All test results were fine, I have been accepted to the HSCT treatment! The chart with my personal details at my room has now also been updated, the HSCT route starts tomorrow.
This morning I had a conversation with Dr. Fedorenko, what a wonderful man! So helpful and knowledgeable. And since I am quite a ‘fan of the facts’ I naturally asked a lot of technical questions about the treatment out of curiosity. In addition, Dr. Fedorenko appears to be a real ‘people person’. Clearly, in this hospital ‘people’ are being treated and not ‘cases’ or ‘case numbers’.
My results showed that I am in ‘blazing health’, except for the MS of course. The MRI showed 10 small lesions in my brain but more worrying are the 4 large lesions in my spine, 2 at the neck and 2 in the back. They have the length of almost my entire spine. These already provide a permanent blockage of 50% so actually I can absolutely not afford any extra damage there and it is certainly necessary to stop MS to prevent a complete spinal cord injury. There are currently no “active lesions”, only “old lesions”. In other words, the damage I just mentioned will probably remain permanent damage, even after the HSCT. It is therefore important to ensure that no new lesions will occur, so the MS must be stopped instantly. I really shouldn’t have come later to this hospital. And after analyzing the rest of my “medical resume,” Dr. Fedorenko gave me an estimate of a 90% success rate to completely stop the MS.
Boh … I am so incredibly grateful for all the people who have helped me and donated this past year. Thanks to those incredible people this HSCT treatment has became available for me! From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much !! ❤
Tonight I will stay a final night with Simon at the hotel. Tomorrow I will come with my suitcase and I will stay in the hospital from then onwards. It is really starting! Let’s do this!! Let’s fight this MonSter!
Addition:
The conversation with Dr. Fedorenko was the only thing scheduled in the hospital this day. On this free afternoon we went with an Uber taxi to the “Gorky Park”. So lovely just being in the nature and yet in the city. And the city of Moskoc is so beautiful!
