Tuesday, October 9th, 14 days until the transplant day. Yesterday we were picked up promptly at the hotel and Anastasia was waiting for us at the hospital. She pointed my room and arranged paperwork. By the way, she herself is also a former HSCT patient, I believe from 5 years ago. Currently, she is dr. Fedorenko’s assistant and a really great support to all patients, both in the preliminary phase and here at the hospital.
Today is a full day of testing and research. I had to be back in the hospital by 7:30 am. Yes, back, because I will be staying with Simon at the hotel until Thursday and will take the tram to the hospital, so I had to get up really early! The test are very thorough: We started with bowel and urine tests and cotton buds in mouth and nose. 12 vials of blood were taken and my height and weight were measured.
Between all tests, Dr. Fedorenko came by to shake hands and to check if everything is okay and sorted. I am very faithful. All the staff are so very nice and helpful. I also encountered with a large number of fellow patients (which I only knew online from the private Facebook group in which we have been in contact the past months). For those who personally know me… I could not resist chatting too much while waiting in the corridors so I am already very tired.
Tomorrow will be a day off so that all the tests can be properly viewed and assessed. All results will be discussed on Thursday afternoon and Dr. Fedorenko will tell me whether I will be approved to undergo the HSCT treatment. But also, to me it is some sort of ‘second opinion’ because I am very curious how they assess my MS status here in Russia. Quite exciting!
