~ Conversations with kids ~
The past months, our toddler son is under the spell of superheroes. In the category of funny conversations with kids I had a conversation with him last week while we were sitting on the couch watching TV. It led to a bit painful, but yet amusing conversation.
Toddler (3): “Mom I’m also a superhero, I am Superman!”, and I reply: “Oh how cool, and does that make me a super-mom?”
In response I get: “You are not super,” and I ask why not. “No, because your legs are broken!” I reply, “Can’t mommy still be super with broken legs?” My toddler demonstratively crosses his arms with an angry look on his face: “No!” and I reply to him, “Yes babe, my legs aren’t always and fully broken, right?”, and it remains silent…. I resume with: “I can still do lots of other super-stuff? I think I am pretty super at cuddling with you right here on the sofa. And we are super at making puzzles… playing games… playing with Play-dough… and yesterday we even baked a cake and you were allowed to eat the dough off the spoons!” A tad quiet my toddler is still sitting next to me at the couch with his arms crossed and the angry look on his face. I continue: “And at night we read bedtime stories and I always cuddle with you in your bed before falling to sleep!” After hearing me out he looks up at me. Then he starts to smile and wraps his arms around my waist and starts hugging me. “Hey Mom! So you must be super after all!”
